liang-yusheng-martial-art-novelerLiang Yusheng, a famous Chinese wuxia (martial arts) novelist, passed away on January 22nd, 2009 in Sydney, Australia at age 85.  His had published a total of 36 novels, which includes “Romance of the White Haired Maiden”, “Lofty Waters Verdant Bow”, etc.  Many of his works were also made into movie and tv series.  Seven Swords is one example of a movie adaption based on one of his works, “Seven Swords of Mount Heaven”.

Liang Yusheng was born in 22nd March, 1924.  Liang Yusheng’s real name was Chen Wentong.  He used the name Liang Yusheng as his pseudonym.  He was the pioneer of the new Chinese martial arts literature.  He stopped writing at 1980s.  He migrated to Australia in the year 1987.  He had stroke in 2006 and stayed at the sanatorium until he passed away.  Liang Yusheng used to evaluate his status in martial arts novels as the pioneer of the new atmosphere, and Jin Yong is the glorifier of the martial arts literature.
