Taiwan’s underworld could not avoid the global economic downturn.  Year-end banquet which represented the strength of the gang was reduced from hundred tables to only less than ten.  The underground banks which were valued as “Golden Egg” in the past were forced to reduce its interest to attract more customers.  Many sidekicks were either sacked or pay cut by their gang master.

Unlike Japanese Yakuza which can operate their business legally, Taiwan factions can only make their living profit illegally.  Their major incomes source were underground banks, protection fees from eight major industry, underground gambling, engineering projects, casino, etc.  However the economic slowdown wave also hit them badly.  Currently many sidekicks had two jobs at the same time, which are bodyguard and taxi driver.
