Black Mama is a female dog raised up  by plumber Hong Zhaoqin from Chiayi County, Taiwan.  The dog is particularly sensitive to the smell of voles.  When it smells voles, it will definitely catch it and the owner will sell the big fat voles.  The owner claimed that the income from selling voles is more than his full time job.

Hong Zhaoqin taught the dog to catch voles by letting it to smell the mouse.  Hong also said that the most yielding area is sugar cane field, which Black Mama can catch up to 10 thousand in three to four months time.  The dog is truly a Fortune Dog.

A group of high school students from central of Taiwan visited Shou Shan Zoo, Kaohsiung.  When they came to chimpanzee exhibition district, they imitated Tarzan actions and roared loudly.  The male chimpanzee in the cage was angered and threw stones at students, leading to the crack of enhanced windows.  The district was temporary closed because of students’ misbehaviors.  The glass repair cost is estimated about 80 thousands Taiwanese dollars, and the zoo intended to claim from students’ school.

A weird-looking pig appeared in Anhui, China.  It has hairless smooth skin, big elephant ears and elephant trunk.  The elephant piglet did not resemble anything like pig at all.  Li, the pig farmer of the pig that gave birth to the elephant piglet, said that the pig she raised gave birth to seven piglet.  The ‘elephant pig’ was the sixth piglet.  The ‘elephant pig’ weighed 1,000 grams and it was active when it was born.  However due to continuously sneezing that caused it could not get enough milk, the piglet only survived for nine hours.

A resident’s kitchen at Longquanyi, Chengdu collapsed because of the termite cave.  The cave had a diameter of 79 centimetres and 30 centimetres deep.

Chang Chuan-feng’s kitchen collapsed last November.  When Chang began to clean the kitchen yesterday afternoon, he discovered a termite cave which was 79 centimetres wide in diameter.  This discovery explained why the kitchen wasn’t affected by earthquake but suddenly collapse last November.

The termite nest was light gray and it was hollow.  According to Chang’s brother Li Yun-long, the nest was filled with eggs and a lot of termite crawling on it.  The termites were translucent and same size as normal ants.  After further digging, they found the termite nest was larger than basin and a lot of termites fled out.  The family stopped digging and called Longquanyi District termite prevention and treatment centre for help.

The prevention and treatment centre’s experts rushed to the scene immediately.  They found a pair of adult termites at the damaged nest.  The adult termites were as thick as the index finger.  The termite queen looked like the pig worm.  The experts took away the termite king and queen to turn them into specimens.  The experts later told Chang’s family continue to dig the surrounding termite cave and put pesticides everywhere in the cave.  The family later discovered the cave was all over the kitchen’s underground like underground honeycomb.

Wang Xiao-tao, the termite experts, said that this termite cave was the biggest since the founding of the Termite Prevention and Treatment Centre in 1997.  He suspected the termite nest was formed for nearly 10 years and lived on the underground’s dead wood.

Wang Zhenmin family at Jilin province had a cattle with white and brown patches which had the word “Year” on its body.  The word looked exactly like someone brushed it on the cow with calligraph.

The cow was bought by Wang from another family in the neighbourhood in 2005.  He didn’t notice the word on the cow until one day he returned to home and saw the word on the cattle from far.  He talked to the previous owner of the cattle and found that the cow’s patches were different from other cattle.  The patches became clearly when the cow grew up and it resembled the word “Year”.  The word “Year” was on the right side of the cow.  It is about 60 centimetres high and 45 centimetres wide.

A dog trapped in the middle 5-inch gap of two ancestral halls, Mang Kung Uk, Sai Kung, Hong Kong was rescued last night.  The veterinarian anesthetized the dog and then towed the dog out from the wider back door of the ancestral hall.  When the dog was recued, it remained unconscious.  However the dog passed away when it was on the way to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).  The dog was thought to be pregnant earlier, however autopsy showed that there was a tumour in its stomach.

A 1.5 meters, weighing about 32 kg adult crocodile was slaughtered at the square in front of one Fuzhou supermarket.  Three workers skinned and cut the crocodile for sale, and this attracted a large number of onlookers.

The crocodile was tied and placed on the square in the morning.  The butcher chopped the crocodile into two.  Its head was separated from the body and the blood splashed all over the flood.  The staff then chopped the crocodile’s limbs and then began skinning the crocodile.

The staff said that killing a crocodile is just like killing a pig.  He pointed out that different part of the crocodile has different price.  The limbs and tail is the most expensive part, which can be sold at 236 Yuan per kg.  The crocodile head is the cheapest, which is 135 Yuan per kg.

“Crocodile meat is very nourishing, especially for curing asthma.”  Supermarket staff members told the spectators.  They told the spectators that the crocodile meat is very delicious and nutritious, and it can be used for medicinal purposes.  They also claimed that cooking crocodile is simple.

This stirred conservations among the surrounding onlookers as many of them witness the slaughtering of crocodile for the first time in their life.  Out of curiosity, some people bought the crocodile meat.

There are also people expressed their doubts on killing a crocodile in public as crocodile is listed as national protected animal.

Some citizens also thought that killing crocodile bloodily in front of the public is just a method to attract customers.

Crocodile in China’s level two protected animal.  One who wishes to sell a crocodile must obtain the permit from provincial fishery administration department and quarantine permit from health and quarantine department.

The supermarket staff explained the crocodile is bought from Guangzhou and it was a second-generation aquaculture product.  The supermarket had applied all the permits and licenses from responsible departments before killing and selling crocodile.

According to “Compendium of Materia Medica”, crocodile meat is extremely beneficial.  However many medical experts and nutrition experts said that although crocodile meat is edible, it does not have the medicinal benefits on asthma and coughing like what the supermarket claimed.

A rooster at Guiyang City fell in love with a kitten.

According to local resident Mr. Choi, he raised a kitten that was only few months old.  Recently he discovered a rooster often waited in front of his house.  Whenever the kitten came out from the house, the chicken will ‘flirt’ with the kitten and jumped onto its back forcing the kitten to have relationship.  The chicken is only two months old but it was pre-mature.  Any animals which appeared in front of the chicken regardless they are male or female, the chicken will try to flirt with them.

Mr. Choi said that the chicken was normal sometime before.  It liked to find food at the landfills.  It was believed that the chicken consumed food containing hormones leading to its pre-mature.  However the fact that it likes to look for alternative partner was puzzling the locals.
