The old classroom regulation

Recently a “Classroom Regulation” was posted online.  The regulation was from a school in Xiushan, Chongqing.  There were rules like “Not handing in the school assignment: 1 Yuan per time”, “Swearing: 1 Yuan per time, or 30 Yuan monthly pass”, “Skip class: 5 Yuan”, “Not memorizing the study materials: 2 Yuan per time”, etc.

The above image was the older rules and regulations:

• Fighting: 10 Yuan, Sweep floor for one month.
• Scolding others: 50 cent per time, apologize to oponent, sweep floor for a week.
• Smoking: 20 Yuan, plus writing penalty.
• Late: 50 cent (emergency is excluded).
• Skip class: 5 Yuan for each lesson.
• Playing cards: 20 Yuan.
• Drinking: 20 Yuan
• Not sweeping floor: Sweep for another week.
• Not doing or handing in homeworks: 1 Yuan per time.
• Drawing on others’ clothes: 50 cent, plus help one to wash clothes.
• Sleeping in the class: 3 Yuan.

New regulation is said to be more detailed, such as people who talks in the class need to wear mask (at their own expense), people who washed their hands with purified water will be fined to carry the water for two weeks, etc.  Both new and old regulation has noted that all fines collected will be donated to the charity.

The rules and regulations were mostly the idea of the students.  Only one person was fined 2 Yuan in the last semester, and no one had ever bought the monthly pass for swearing yet, write one composition for those who involve in drinking, smoking, using internet, or puppy love about the negative effects of those activities, punish to memorize one of the article in “Tao Te Ching” (or Dao De Jin, means Self-cultivating Scripture) for nicknaming others, etc.

On January 30, the circle of wushu assembly was held at Jinyun Mountain, Chongqing.  150 martial masters from eight martial factions gathered to demonstrate their wushu skills.  The eight factions included Bagua, Xingyi, Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, etc.

The competition started at 10 am that day. Wu Chengzhong, vice executive chairman of Beibei District Chinese Wushu Association, performed Xingyi Quan (Xingyi Boxing) and wowed the audience.  Wu learnt martial arts since 8-year-old and he was now 61-year-old.  His martial arts master was well-known wushu master Zhu Guofu, who won numerous awards in all kind of wushu competitions in the country.

The youngest participant was 8-year-old Li Ziyang.  His Hongmen boxing also won the applause from the audience.  It was later learnt that Li Ziyang started practising martial arts three years ago.

The oldest participant was 72-year-old granny, Xu Xianyu.  She was one of the top students of famous martial master, ‘Hero of Yantze River’ Luu Zijian.  Her three-section cudgel performance amazed the audience as well.  According to Xu, her mother passed away three days after she was born.  Her father was KMT’s officer.  He went everywhere fighting in the war and could not take care of her.  She was then adopted by her aunty who was good at martial arts.  Xu later acknowledged her aunty as her master.  Later in her life, her dad met with Luu Zijian and asked Luu to look for his daughter.    Luu Zijian looked for Xu everywhere at late 70s.  Luu finally found Xu at Daping area and taught her Bagua Zhang.  Currently Xu practice martial arts everyday at the zoo nearby.

Yang Li from Chongqing was married on January 31.  She had five good friends who are like her sisters.  She was going to marry and all of them wanted to be the maid of honour.  Yang Li was indecisive, so she chose all of them to be the bridesmaids after discussing with her best friends.

Lu Peng, one of the bridesmaids, said that they were excited to learn that their best friend was going to marry.  She said it may be a tacit that all of them wanted to become the bridesmaid of Yang as the wedding present.

Yang Li said when there were few of her best friends tried to bribe her by treating her expensive meal to become the maid of honour.  After several meals as unofficial meetings, these best friends decided to become the bride’s bridesmaids together.  However there will only be one best man like the wedding tradition.  The bribe said she was really grateful of what her best friends had done and hope each of them can find their own ‘Prince Charming’.
