Dr. Zhuang Jia-Rong said that abnormal enlargement of the breasts in a male a.k.a. gynecomastia normally happens in the age of puberty between 13 and 19.  The cause for gynecomastia can be categorized into four groups.  The first is caused by genetic inheritance, and about 1/4 of the patients belong to this group.  The breast will become smaller with aging.  The second group is those with abnormal hormone due to one’s diet and lifestyle.  This can be fixed by controlling hormone with drugs or through surgery.  The third category is due to pathological gynecomastia caused by metabolic diseases, endocrine disease and abnormal gonadal.  The last group is caused by medication that are used for heart diseases, cancer or asthma.
